About the Author
Joshua Pritikin
Joshua Pritikin brings a unique blend of technical expertise and psychological insight to his work. After beginning his career developing financial software on Wall Street, Pritikin pursued advanced studies in quantitative psychology, earning a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in 2016. During his academic career, he contributed to approximately ten peer-reviewed scientific publications, demonstrating his commitment to rigorous research and evidence-based practice.
In 2022, Pritikin made a significant career transition from software and statistics to psychological counseling, where he now serves clients through his private practice. This shift reflects his felt calling to understand and address mental health. He earned the distinction of IFS Certified Practitioner in 2024. He works with adult individuals and couples.
The Pritikin name carries a legacy in the health and wellness space, due to the work of Nathan Pritikin. Nathan developed the renowned Pritikin Program—a low-fat, high-fiber eating plan that gained widespread recognition in the 1970s. As Nathan’s grandson, Joshua draws inspiration from this legacy of meaningful impact on human wellbeing. With a slightly different focus, he hopes to make similarly significant contributions to the world through his own work.
Religion Unburdened by Belief poses the question: what would religion without belief actually look like? If you stripped away the creeds, the doctrines, the articles of faith—what’s left? Is there anything left?
