Thomas Richards

Thomas Richards taught English and American Literature and Language at Harvard for eight years, including as an Associate Professor, winning a Guggenheim Fellowship. He then moved to Hong Kong, where he lived for eleven years. He is the author of three works of cultural criticism and two novels: Zero Tolerance (Farrar Straus & Giroux, 1997); and Mrs. Sinden (Global Collective Publishers, 2023).  Having served on various college admissions committees, Richards is also the author of Admit One: Writing Your Way into the Best Colleges (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2019), and advises high school students on admissions. Richards has degrees from Carleton College, the University of California at Berkeley, and Stanford.  He lives in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania.
